Connect MetaTrader 5 to your AnalyticsFX journal
Link a live MetaTrader 5 account with your read-only investor password and AnalyticsFX syncs your trades and a full statistics panel into the journal automatically, no plugin and no terminal left running.
Most traders who run a live account do it on MetaTrader 5, and until now the only way to get those trades into AnalyticsFX was a CSV export. Now you can link a live MT5 account directly. AnalyticsFX reads the account, computes your statistics, and writes them into your journal automatically.
Connect once, sync automatically
Linking an account takes three fields you already know from your terminal:
- Account login. Your numeric MT5 account number.
- Server. The broker server exactly as it appears in your terminal, for example ICMarkets-Demo.
- Password. Your account password. Both the investor and the master password work, and we prefer the read-only investor password.
Enter those once and the connection is made. There is no plugin to install in MetaTrader, no expert advisor to attach, and no terminal that has to stay open on your machine.
Read-only by design
We ask for the investor password on purpose. The investor password is a read-only credential: it lets a viewer see balances, equity, and trade history, but it cannot place, modify, or close a single position. That means AnalyticsFX can compute your statistics and never touch your account. The master password works too if that is all you have, but the investor password is the safer choice and the one we recommend. The password is sent once over an encrypted connection and is never stored by us in plaintext.
What lands in your journal
Once the account is linked, AnalyticsFX computes a full statistics panel from the real fills on the account:
- Balance and equity, in the account currency.
- Net profit across the synced history.
- Win rate, with the raw count of winning and losing trades.
- Total trades on the account.
- Profit factor, gross profit divided by gross loss.
- Average win and average loss, so you can see the shape of your edge rather than just its sign.
- Expectancy, the average result you can expect per trade.
- Max drawdown, as a percentage of the account.
Your most recent trades are listed alongside the summary, each with its direction, symbol, and net result after commission and swap.
While the first sync runs
The first sync is not instant, because AnalyticsFX is pulling your full history and computing every number from it. The connect screen shows a live estimate of how long that will take and your position in the queue, so you are never left staring at a blank spinner. When the numbers are ready, the panel fills in on its own.
If your broker has not been set up on our side yet, you will see a short note instead: your data will be available within 24 hours, with no further action needed from you. You can close the window and come back later.
One journal, every account
MetaTrader 5 sits next to the other ways you already populate the journal: TradeLocker live sync, CSV import from any broker, and fully custom manual accounts. Whatever the source, every account collapses into the same canonical record, so the stats, the equity curve, and the prop-firm Monte Carlo simulator all treat your MT5 trades exactly like everything else.
How to start
Open the dashboard, go to the journal page, and choose Connect MetaTrader 5. Enter your login, server, and investor password, then let the first sync run. The moment your statistics land, the rest of the platform can read them.
